If you plan to install Horizon Client with FIPS-compliant cryptography, enable FIPS mode in the client operating system.Verify that the domain controllers have the latest patches, enough free disk space, and can communicate with each other.
Verify that you can log in as an administrator on the client system. This URL might be the VMware Downloads page at, or it might be the URL for a Connection Server instance. Verify that you have the URL for a download page that contains the Horizon Client installer. See Hardware and Software Requirements for Windows Client Systems. Verify that the client system uses a supported operating system. Double-click any icon to launch that app or service. After a few moments, the new Remote Desktop client app will be configured. On the Stay signed in to all your apps screen, mark the checkbox Allow my organization to manage my device, then click OK. Authenticate with Two-Step Login if requested. Continue your sign in using your Cornell NetID email address ( and password, then click Sign in. Do not use any personal Microsoft account you might own. On the Microsoft Sign in page, enter your Cornell NetID email then click Next. On the Let’s get started screen, click Subscribe. On the Completed the Remote Desktop Setup Wizard screen, click Finish to complete the installation and begin configuring the client. On the Installation Scope screen, accept the default selection of Install just for you (your NetID), then click Install. On the End-User License Agreement screen, mark the checkbox I accept the terms of the License Agreement, then click Next.
